Indie Music Magazine

Here we are at Week 8 of Monday Cover-Up! This week we’re featuring a cover of “Safe and Sound” by Capital Cities.

Certainly one of the most played songs of the summer, right up there with “Get Lucky” and “Blurred Lines”, “Safe and Sound” managed to put L.A. natives Capital Cities on the map.

If you listen to the radio long enough, even a great song like “Safe and Sound” can start feeling overplayed. However, Ali Brustofski and Corey Gray have breathed new life into the song with their own softer take on it.

Sporting over 500,000 subscribers and 80,000,000 views between the two of them, the duo have a massive fan base with which to share their version of the song.

Utilizing the dual vocals and often backed by nothing more than an acoustic guitar, the song really taps into the lyrics to turn the song into a more traditional ballad.

If you’re a fan of their “Safe and Sound” cover, head on over to their respective channels for more takes on some of the radio’s most popular songs.

What do you think? Can you once again listen to the song on the radio? Do you think there’s a better cover out there? Let us know in the comments!
