Monday Cover-Up: Week 4 feat. Mangal Suvarnan

It’s officially the 4th week of Monday Cover-Up. Our feature for this week stars Mangal Suvarnan, a singer/producer with talent pouring out of his body.

His cover consists of a combination of two songs, Above & Beyond’s “Sun & Moon” and Swedish House Mafia’s “Save The World.” The original songs are both by wildly popular EDM trios, with Above & Beyond specializing in Trance and Swedish House Mafia, as their name implies, having been at the top of the House scene before they disbanded in 2013.

If you were to listen to Mangal’s version first, it would have been almost impossible to guess that the originals are as electronically produced as they are. He replaces the synthesizers and drum patterns with guitar, piano and flute and layers them to create his own acoustic, yet complex, version. Vocally, Suvarnan doesn’t try to compete with the likes of Richard Bedford and John Martin, but imbues the song with his own relaxed vocal styling which complements the acoustic version perfectly.

With only 4,600 views on his video, this kind of talent definitely deserves greater recognition. Take a listen and decide for yourself.

So what do you think? Were you a fan of the dual cover? Do you agree that he deserves wider recognition? Let us know in the comments below!
