Monday Cover-Up: Week 3 feat. Eli Lieb

Welcome to Week 3 of Monday Cover-Up. This week we have a cover of a great song from The Great Gatsby soundtrack.

The original piece is sung by Lana Del Ray, who’s currently experiencing some major radio play thanks to the Cedric Gervais remix of her “Summertime Sadness,” which was on her Born to Die album released in January 2012. Since then, she’s released another album, Paradise, and was featured on the soundtrack for The Great Gatsby. Her contribution to the soundtrack, a haunting ballad titled “Young and Beautiful,” has been certified Gold in the United States and Platinum in Australia.

Enter Eli Lieb. A talented singer-songwriter who, like Lana Del Ray, has spent a significant chunk of his life living in New York, Lieb has provided his own rendition of “Young and Beautiful.” While Del Ray is often credit for her highly emotive vocals, Lieb possesses the same vocal quality. With over 12 million views on his YouTube channel, it’s safe to say that Lieb has captured people’s attention.

Stay tuned after the video for a look at some of Lieb’s original music. His original compositions are arguably even better than his covers, although both are so good that we’re just going to have to listen to everything he ever sings.

So what do you think? Did Eli do Lana justice? Do you prefer his covers or his original music? Sound off in the comments below!
